Getting people high from cannabis isn’t just up to THC anymore. One of the current up-and-coming cannabinoids on the market doesn’t include any THC at all, and, while much less potent, it does still get you high to some degree. That cannabinoid is HHC, a compound derived from CBD.
THC will almost certainly cause you to fail a drug test if you don’t detox, but when it comes to HHC, drug tests are not yet widely researched. We’ll get into what we know about HHC drug tests and how to be as safe as possible if you have a drug test.
Intro HHC
If you like the sense of calm and euphoria that cannabis provides but don’t like when your high gets too intense, HHC might be your product. The effects of HHC are best described as falling somewhere between CBD and Delta-8 THC.
HHC differs from some of the other alternatives to Delta-9 THC that are less potent, such as Delta-8 and Delta-10, because, as we mentioned, it is not derived from THC at all; the HHC compound is produced through hemp derived from CBD, which goes through a complex chemical process to reach the result of HHC.
Passing an HHC Drug Test
HHC is technically legal at the federal level because it does not contain more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC. But, that considered, it is still uncertain whether HHC can evade drug tests or not.
This is because, as we described, HHC does not contain any THC. Many drug tests can only detect THC, while other cannabinoids like CBD remain undetected. However, the idea that HHC could get past a drug test is merely a logical guess rather than a researched and tested hypothesis. Additionally, trace amounts of THC are often found in HHC products, and that alone can cause you to fail your test.
Since there’s no conclusive answer at this time, it’s best to exercise the utmost caution with HHC and drug tests.
How Long Does HHC Stay in Your System?
HHC stays in your system for a varying time, depending on several factors. These factors include how much HHC you consumed, your BMI, and your general metabolism and lifestyle.
For general reference, HHC will stay detectable in a person’s urine for just one day if they rarely use it and up to six weeks if they use it often. While not much is known about how long it will show up in saliva or blood tests, the best estimation as of right now is that saliva will follow a similar timeframe to urine and that HHC can stay detectable in blood for up to ninety days.
Hair, on the other hand, will hold on to any toxins, including HHC, for ninety days regardless of any other factors.
Reliable Ways to Detox from HHC
How you’ll go about detoxing from HHC depends on how much time you have until your drug test and what type of drug test you’ll be taking.
Assuming you’ll be taking a urine or saliva test, as these are the most popular, you should be fine to detox naturally if you have a month and a half or more until your drug test. To ensure a successful natural detox, the most important thing is to stop consuming HHC entirely, but you should take on a few other practices to aid the process. Make sure to drink lots of water to stay hydrated and flush out toxins faster, eat foods that are gentle and easy to digest like vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats, if you do eat meat at all, and avoid all toxins entirely such as caffeine and sugar.
If you don’t have enough time to detox naturally, you can still be ready to pass your drug test in time with the use of detox programs.
There are a few different timeline options for detox programs, including ten days and five days. When you choose a detox program following either of those timeframes, you will take the provided supplements while following the best practices for a detox as described above. They will permanently cleanse your system in a specific amount of time. You will be completely detoxed until you decide to consume HHC again.
If you’re on a very tight timeframe, you could go with a one-day detox kit and be ready to pass your test within ninety minutes of completing it. However, unlike the longer timeframes, this one will not permanently cleanse your system. The detox will only last about six hours, after which the hidden toxins will surface.
Closing Thoughts
HHC is a fun way to experience the best parts of getting high without anything too intense and without actually consuming THC. It is also legal on a federal level, but will HHC show up on a drug test and still cause you to fail a drug test is uncertain. So, if you’ve recently consumed THC and now have a drug test coming up, it is best to play it safe and detox.
